Dr. Kara (Chappell) Amstutz
Looking for a Springfield veterinarian?
Hello! I'm Dr. Kara (Chappell) Amstutz. A Springfield native, and a Parkview H. S. graduate, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry at Missouri State University. I graduated from University of Missouri Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000.
After working as an associate vet for nearly two years, I wanted to open my own practice. In 2002 I opened Homeward Bound Mobile Veterinary Clinic with my husband and practice manager, Dwight. I enjoyed this house call practice very much, but was limited on what I could do for patients.
In June 2004, we opened the full service Hometown Veterinary Hospital, and it was a pleasure to become one of the vets in Springfield, MO with a permanent office. The practice has grown over the years; I am very proud to have helped so many people and pets.
I have many special interests in veterinary medicine and am currently working on attaining special certifications in pain management. I also enjoy dermatology, dentistry, surgery and internal medicine.
In time away from the practice, I'm known only as “Mom” to our four very active kids. I play taxi driver, coach, art director, and overall operations manager for the Amstutz family. The family also has one dog and three cats.
